Overview

The walk takes you through the state forest at Waterloo, and begins and finishes at the Waterloo cemetery.  On the walk you go through the heritage listed alluvial gold site of Baxter Gully.

The walk takes you through the state forest at Waterloo, and begins and finishes at the Waterloo cemetery.  On the walk you go through the heritage listed alluvial gold site of Baxter Gully.

Directions

Walk to the end of Cemetery Road.  Turn left on to Blazed Track and stay on this track until reaching Baxter Track.  Turn right up this track and walk generally easterly until you come to the North South Track, which runs  along the ridge of the eastern edge of the state forest.

Turn right (south) on this track and continue on it until you come to Stewart Track.  Turn right and follow back to the cemetery.

Getting There

Drive to Beaufort on the Western Highway. Take the Lexton Road north at Lawrence street (off the Western Highway) and travel 8.5km to Waterloo. Turn off on the right on Waterloo Road for 700m then left on Cemetery Road. Follow this road 400m to the cemetery and park your car here.
