About the Walk

Overview

This is a great walk with a focus on waterfalls, but there is forest, heathland, huge and spectacular cliffs, and expansive views.

The Walk in Detail

This is a somewhat easier walk in the Mt Difficult Range (Gr 3) but there are still plenty of steps, and one very sharp climb.  The rewards are worth it.

We start at the Beehive Falls carpark, having dropped a few cars off at the trailhead of the Roses Gap Road to enable the car shuffle at the end. The walk to Beehive Falls is a very popular walk for good reason and is very easy going.

Once over the bridge, the track climbs up beside the falls and is very steep, with the highest point of the walk less than 1 km past the falls.   After 3.5 km, we join the Grampians Peak Trail, walk south west through heathlands on a rocky plateau where there are impressive views of the Mt Difficult Range, then descend the escarpment to follow Dead Bullock Creek and the Gar Falls.  The walk finishes at the GPT Trailhead on the Roses Gap Road.

Getting There

The start is at the Beehive Falls carpark on the Roses Gap Road, approx 25km north of Halls Gap on sealed roads. There will be a short (4km) car shuffle to the Troopers Creek Campground carpark at the end of the walk.

Walk Precautions

Some of the walk is quite exposed to both sun and adverse weather. There is some scrambling over rocks, and the section near Beehive Falls is very steep - great care is required if there are wet conditions.
