About the Walk

Overview

An easy circuit walk of just over 12km with a combination of bitumen paths and walking through the bush. There is some minor climbing and descending on the return bush track. The turnaround point is the scenic Lake Bellfield.

The Walk in Detail

The walk will take around 4 hours at an easy pace with time to spend at Lake Bellfield.  Starting at the event Hub, you head south on a bitumen path which runs along the west side of the Grampians Road.  After around 2kms the path crosses the Grampians Road and you will pass the Brambuk National Park & Cultural Centre.  Public toilets are available here.  Around 2.5kms later you will pass the Grampians Adventure Golf and Café.  As you approach the Café you will come to a track intersection and you should ensure that you proceed straight ahead and do not take the path to the left.  After having walked around 5km, you will reach Lake Bellfield which does have public toilets.

You return by the same path until you arrive at the Brambuk National Park & Cultural Centre.  Just after the Centre you will come to a dirt track on your right.  A signpost directs you towards the Fyans Creek Loop.  You should take this track until you reach a track junction which shows Delleys Bridge 2.7km.  You should walk along the Boronia Trail until you come to Delleys Bridge.  The track will have some short ascents and descents.  At the bridge, take the bitumen footpath along the eastern side of the Grampians Road back to the start, with a possible detour to the ice creamery just across Stony Bridge.

Getting There

Walk starts and ends at the Halls Gap and Grampians Visitor Information Centre, 117 Grampians Road, Halls Gap.

Walk Precautions

The walk involves bush tracks but more than half will be on bitumen so it could be hard on your feet. Wear suitable footwear. Bitumen paths are shared with cyclists so walkers need to keep to the left and be aware of them.
