About the Walk
Overview
This loop walk leads to Mt Stanley, which has an elevation just above 1000m. The walk is on bush-roads through pine plantations and farmland, but mostly through natural bushland. A prominent feature of this walk is the views of the mountains and valleys near and far, which are provided 360 at Mt Stanley Trig point.
The Walk in Detail
Walk back towards Stanley. Turn Left onto Gail Road. Turn Left onto Boswell Rd (sign says Trigy Rd). At next intersection turn left onto Circular Creek Rd. After 9.5km we come to the intersection with Mt Stanley Road, turn Right here. Follow this road to Mt Stanley, Turn back along Mt Stanley Road and walk back to the cars at the starting point.
Getting There
Drive to Beechworth, from Wangaratta take the third exit on the roundabout onto Camp St. After 700m turn left onto Hodge St (C525) signposted to Stanley approx. 10km. At Stanley, continue straight onto Mt Stanley Road. Starting point for the walk is at the intersection with Hillsborough Road, park here. The road is sealed to Stanley where it changes to a dirt road. 2WD is adequate.
