The Walk in Detail
This circuit walk takes in the old Moe-Walhalla Rail line, the current township of Erica and surrounding farmland and passes through the old copper mining town of Coopers Creek.
From Knott's Siding, cross the Tyers-Walhalla Road and walk west along the old rail line to Erica township. From the Erica Hotel on the Moe-Walhalla Road, head south briefly and turn left in to Mathiesons Road. Follow the road to where it terminates at the last property and veer right on to a rough vehicle track. The track runs south through forest, then generally east along the edge of farming properties before crossing Jacobs Creek. From here, head uphill along McConachys Road and cross the sealed Tyers-Walhalla Road before descending along Coopers Creek Road to the old Coopers Creek Township. Pass the (now vacant) Coopers Creek Hotel and follow the road out of Coopers Creek to where it crosses a bridge over the old rail line. Turn left on the rail line at the old Platina Station site and follow the rail trail back to Knott's Siding.

Wildflowers may be seen at any time of year. The area has a rich gold and copper mining history. Much of the area was logged heavily during the gold mining era to provide fuel for crushing machinery and supports for tunnels. The rich red soil near Erica is used extensively for potato growing.
