About the Walk

Overview

The Walk in Detail

From the car park visit "The Schanck", walk down the boardwalk (1) to the lower inlet and return to the car park. From the car park, walk about 500metres along Cape Schanck road till you see an unmade road on the left (2).

Follow this track until it becomes a walking track. Continue along this track past a couple of viewing lookouts over Selwyns Fault (3).  Follow Fingals Beach Track until you reach the beach (4).  Continue along the beach passing by Gunnammatta Surf Club area (5) and you will reach the Melbourne Water Outfall site at Boag Rocks (6).

Continue along the surf beach past Rye Beach (7).  Along the way you will see interesting rock formations along the shoreline. Just a bit further along the beach you will meet a track to the car park at number Number 16.  Keep going along the beach until over a rocky area you will come upon The Divide (8).  From here follow the walking track up to the car park nera the corner of Browns Road and Tasman Drive.  This is the end of the walk.

Variation:  You can make this walk shorter by finishing at Rye Back Beach car park. It will then be a medium 13 km walk.
