About the Walk

Overview

This walk includes historic buildings of Trentham and along the Domino Rail and return via Bligh’s Track. A mostly flat walk through varied vegetation.

The Walk in Detail

After a short walk around the township, visiting the main street, Memorial Clock and Catholic Church, walk to the heritage listed railway station to follow the railway to the well-marked trail. After crossing Falls Road, the vegetation changes and the dominant species of tree is the Manna Gum, one on the left is over 100 years old. The grassy path passes alongside a stand of radiata pine then opens into forest, crossing a swampy area on a boardwalk.

After approximately an hour’s walk the route returns to the old railway line where there is an information board about the area. Blue Creek is where alluvial gold was found from the mid 1850’s. When Domino Creek is reached, the halfway point, there is another information board mainly about the trees. Turn off the embankment with a quick turn left to follow markers until Domino Creek is crossed on a wooden bridge. Continue along an old logging track through open forest back to the rail trail and retrace our steps to Trentham.

Getting There
