About the Walk
Overview
The Walk in Detail
This is an easy walk on good tracks that passes through typical Otways bush to visit two pretty waterfalls. The track is clearly signposted from the Sheoak Picnic Ground and follows the line of an old tramway for around 2.5 km to Lower Kalimna Falls (1) where it is possible to stand behind the falls and look across the pool through the falling water. After viewing the falls continue along the track noting the junction (2) after about 300 m: the southern fork will be followed on the return trip. Upper Kalimna Falls set in pretty bushland and is reached about 700 m beyond the junction (3). On return, head south at the junction (2), cross a creek and climb up to Garvey Track (4). Turn left and follow the wide vehicle track through tall forest ignoring tracks heading off to the right (5) and eventually descending steeply back to the start point.
Getting There
The walk starts at the Sheoak Picnic Ground which is 1.5 km past Allenvale on Garvey Track – about five minutes from Lorne.
