About the Walk
Overview
Although this is listed as an easy walk it includes a number of river crossings that may involve slippery rocks so a modest amount of agility may be required. The entire walk is on a good, well maintained, track.
The Walk in Detail
From its start, the track follows the river along its tidal section for a few hundred metres until rapids act as a breakwater. From there the path enters the Erskine River Valley that progressively becomes a fern-filled gorge.
On the way to the beautiful Erskine Falls the track passes through the natural amphitheatre of the sanctuary and, if time permits, offers a side trip to Splitter’s Falls on a tributary. Shortly after passing by Straw Falls, the track arrives at the bottom of Erskine Falls and all that is required is to negotiate the 222 steps to the carpark.
