About the Walk

Overview

Although this is listed as an easy walk it includes a number of river crossings that may involve slippery rocks so a modest amount of agility may be required. The entire walk is on a good, well maintained, track.

The Walk in Detail

From its start, the track follows the river along its tidal section for a few hundred metres until rapids act as a breakwater. From there the path enters the Erskine River Valley that progressively becomes a fern-filled gorge.

On the way to the beautiful Erskine Falls the track passes through the natural amphitheatre of the sanctuary and, if time permits, offers a side trip to Splitter’s Falls on a tributary. Shortly after passing by Straw Falls, the track arrives at the bottom of Erskine Falls and all that is required is to negotiate the 222 steps to the carpark.

Getting There

The start of the walk is a short, 5 minute, walk from the Registration Hall. Head downhill to the roundabout and turn left at the roundabout. The start of the Erskine Falls Track is signposted. This is a one-way walk and involves a 30 minute car shuttle.
