About the Walk
Overview
A pleasant circuit walk from the Firth Park campground SE of Trentham through bushland along 4WD and walking tracks.
The Walk in Detail
Starting at the camp ground lake, walk South and cross Firth Rd; then continue along the Firth Park Loop Track for about 1 km. Veer left on the track, and continue for about 500 meters to cross Firth Rd. Follow the track east then South for about 1 km, veering right at each track intersection; then follow Firth Rd South for about 200 meters and turning left onto Burnt Mill Rd. Follow Burnt Mill Rd for 3.5 kms, (6.6 kms into the walk) then turn left onto a mountain bike track. Follow this track north for 2.2 kms then turn left onto Campaspe Rd. Follow the road WNW west for 2.1 kms, then turn left and walk SW along Mills Track for 1.4 kms. Turn left (south) at the four-way intersection and follow that track for 1 km back to the campground – keeping right at each track intersection.
Getting There
From the Trentham Muster point, turn Right onto Falls Rd ant drive East through town for 2.1 kms and turn right into Pearsons Rd, then a further 4 kms and turn right into James Lane at the Pig and Whistle hotel. Drive for 1.7 kms along James Ln and turn left into O’Connell’s Rd. Continue along O’Connell’s Rd for 4.8 kms Note: O’Connell’s Rd becomes Firth Rd at the right-hand bend. At the campground sign turn left and follow the road for 400 meters to the Firth Park Campground. Driving distance from Trentham Muster Point: 13 kms.
