A huge congratulations to Caro Ryan, the brains (and the energy) behind Lotsafreshair on being awarded the Order of Australia Medal.
You probably know her from the excellent blog on "how to" everything bushwalking - Lotsafreshair. You might know her as the author of the excellent "How to Navigate" book, or attended one of her comprehensive (and fun) navigation courses. Or even the host of Rescued: An Outdoor Podcast for Hikers & Adventurers where she shares real life experiences of rescues, so you can learn to hike safely and confidently.
But you might not know that Caro’s service spans operational leadership as Deputy Unit Commander of the NSW SES Bush Search and Rescue Unit, outdoor education, training and public safety advocacy. Her work has strengthened wilderness search and rescue capability, promoted safe outdoor recreation and improved community understanding of risk and preparedness.
What a legend Caro Ryan OAM!
