From the Recreation Reserve return to the main street, then north east 400m on Greendale – Trentham Road to Martin Street on right. Turn right (north east) into Martin Street for 200m, then left (north north east) along Nuggety Creek Road. Cross Nuggety Creek on a bridge then swing east then north to 'Y' junction with Old Blackwood Road.
Take the right fork along Old Blackwood Road for about 3km to the junction with Yankee Road. Head north 1km then swing south then east to the abandoned Yankee Mine, which is visible from the road. Have lunch/rest stop in a clear area nearby.
After lunch head south then east along Yankee Mine Track to North Blackwood Road, then south down Hayden Track 2.5km to Ruth Track. Head west then south west along Ruth Track for 1km to North Blackwood Road, then south west to Shaws Lake Track.
Take Shaws Lake Track south west to Golden Point Road into Blackwood and return to the Recreation Reserve.

Drive to Blackwood on the Western Highway via Melton and Bacchus Marsh, taking the Greendale-Myrninong Rd turn-off from the highway and then the Greendale-Trentham Rd to Blackwood.
