Walk Summary

Nestled in a magical pocket of Gippsland, just 2.5 hours drive southeast of Melbourne, lies the spectacular Grand Strzelecki Track (GST), poised to become one of Victoria's premier hiking, bushwalking and camping adventure destinations.

Etching out a trail through the beautiful Strzelecki Ranges, the GST has many treasures to discover.

You'll traverse changing landscapes – valleys, farmlands, old and regrowth forests, bushfire regeneration, managed forests.  See abundant wildlife, including koalas, wallabies, echidnas and possums. Explore primeval rainforests of delicate tree ferns and towering mountain ash.

Take in amazing views of Bass Strait, South Gippsland and Latrobe Valley.  Discover hidden creeks, mossy gullies, picturesque waterfalls and pristine rockpools. And ponder forgotten moments of our early exploration, settlement, farming and logging history.

You may also meet one of the locals: the Superb Lyrebird, with his beautiful lyre-shaped tail and uncanny sound mimicry.
