Boneo Road-Bushrangers Bay-Cape Schank-Boneo Road
From the car park the track is sandy for a lot of its length to Bushrangers Bay. It goes through ti-tree shrub winding along a sometimes grassy valley while on the right there is the edge of the National Park & grazing land (1). Often here there are a large mob of kangaroos, many of which also feed in the grasslands. Along this track you have the impression of walking through a rainforest (2). You will also see beautiful views over rolling hills and open farmland (3).
After a couple of kilometers there is a junction with the left hand fork in the track leading down to Bushrangers Bay (4). There are a number of steep steps which lead down to the beach, where a creek can be crossed to walk along the beach to Elephant Rock (5) at the eastern end. This can be climbed or you can just sit and watch the view.
Climb back to the junction and continue towards Cape Schanck along a track with occasional views of the coastline. You will descend into Burrabong Creek (6) and cross a small bridge. The track passes under more it-tree as well as beside grazing land. Along some of the cliffs there are viewing points of Cape Schanck (7). At the Cape itself the walk will continue down the steps to lunch at Pebble Beach (8).
After lunch the walk will go back along the same track to the junction with Bushrangers Bay (but not down to the Bay again). Follow the track back to the Car Park at Boneo Road.
Cape Schanck
There is a kiosk at Cape Schanck car park.
Walk starts and ends at Bushrangers Bay car park, Boneo Road (Melways ref: 259 K8)
From Nepean Rd, then turn South on Boneo Rd. Follow Boneo Road to Cape Schanck Rd then continue on 2.5 kms to the car park on the right (south) side of the road.
