Fun, Friendship and Fitness in Nature
Joining a bushwalking club is a great way to meet new people, improve your fitness and have fun in the outdoors. There are 60 Bushwalking Victoria Affiliate clubs spread across Victoria and most clubs welcome new members and visitors.
There are clubs of all sizes with many offering walks across Victoria, interstate and even overseas. Most clubs welcome people new to bushwalking and you are certain to find experienced members willing to pass on their knowledge to beginners. Some of our clubs conduct training specifically for people new to bushwalking. Club membership is low cost, with most annual membership fees ranging from $35-$60.
Most clubs welcoming visitors along for a trial. Contact the club to discuss your bushwalking experience and find out about the types of activities on their program. Many clubs also offer other outdoor activities in addition to bushwalking, such as kayaking and cycling, and other social activities.
Wonthaggi Bush Beach Walking Club
Introduction
Wonthaggi Bush and Beach Walking Club members come from a large area from Inverloch through to Grantville and surrounds. We have walks each Tuesday with a six monthly program being produced twice yearly.
Details
The Club commenced in January 1990 under the leadership of Shelagh Smith who is now a Life Member. Current membership is 30. The Club also has a Social Membership category for those members who are now unable to bushwalk but who still wish to keep in touch with the Club members and activities. Walks are held each Tuesday with a six monthly program being produced twice yearly with different leaders nominating specific walks. The Club covers a large area from Inverloch through to Grantville and surrounds. Walks are between 10-12kms. A camp is held annually usually in self catering accommodation. The Club year commences with a Breakfast in the Park followed by a Mid Winter gathering and a Cup Day barbecue. A Christmas breakup lunch finishes off the year. Birthdays are acknowledged and the “big Os” celebrated with a cake or luncheon. New members are always welcome.
