Peregrine Club Inc.

Introduction

Peregrine's offer varied walk options for those interested in exploring the coastal and bushland environs of South Gippsland.

Details

The name "Peregrine" was suggested by one of the original members, well-known bird illustrator, Nicolas Day. As our newsletter editor explained: "Peregrines are often seen gliding effortlessly over land and coast, where we planned to walk" and "A peregrine is also a pilgrim or wanderer, an appropriate description for our activities." We have two programs: the 'Other Activities' program (monthly events such as bike rides, kayaking, overnight hikes, base camps etc), and the 'Tuesday Walks' (weekly all-day walks), with each having its own planning committee. Most of our regular Tuesday walkers are retired folk. Traditionally we have a mid-year lunch together after our AGM; a Melbourne Cup day BBQ; a 'Tuesday Walks' Christmas BBQ; and a Club Christmas Dinner. We also participate as a club in numerous local re-vegetation planting days.
