Fun, Friendship and Fitness in Nature
Joining a bushwalking club is a great way to meet new people, improve your fitness and have fun in the outdoors. There are 60 Bushwalking Victoria Affiliate clubs spread across Victoria and most clubs welcome new members and visitors.
There are clubs of all sizes with many offering walks across Victoria, interstate and even overseas. Most clubs welcome people new to bushwalking and you are certain to find experienced members willing to pass on their knowledge to beginners. Some of our clubs conduct training specifically for people new to bushwalking. Club membership is low cost, with most annual membership fees ranging from $35-$60.
Most clubs welcoming visitors along for a trial. Contact the club to discuss your bushwalking experience and find out about the types of activities on their program.  Many clubs also offer other outdoor activities in addition to bushwalking, such as kayaking and cycling, and other social activities.
Pakenham Bushwalking Club Inc
Introduction
Pakenham Bushwalking Club uses the laughing Australian kookaburra as its emblem and has a philosophy to "walk, talk and gawk".
Details
The Pakenham Bushwalking Club was formed in 1990 when two walkers turned up for the inaugural walk at Lysterfield. The club became an incorporated club in 1994, officially known as the Pakenham Bushwalking Club Inc. PBWC uses the laughing Australian Kookaburra as their emblem, and has a philosophy to "walk, talk and gawk".
PBWC enjoys a membership of approximately 30 people ranging in ages from early 50s to the very energetic members of 80 plus. A good advertisement indeed to keep fit by walking regardless of age. PBWC encourages new members by offering three introductory walks.
PBWC runs their walks each Tuesday and the usual radius for walks is anywhere within 100km of the local area. However we do have at least one week away each year at other Victorian locations. Regions such as Halls Gap, Lorne, Bright, Daylesford, Lakes Entrance etc. have provided our club with some spectacular walking.
PBWC enjoys close ties with the Berwick Bushwalking Club, with both clubs having some overlapping memberships.
