Fun, Friendship and Fitness in Nature
Joining a bushwalking club is a great way to meet new people, improve your fitness and have fun in the outdoors. There are 60 Bushwalking Victoria Affiliate clubs spread across Victoria and most clubs welcome new members and visitors.
There are clubs of all sizes with many offering walks across Victoria, interstate and even overseas. Most clubs welcome people new to bushwalking and you are certain to find experienced members willing to pass on their knowledge to beginners. Some of our clubs conduct training specifically for people new to bushwalking. Club membership is low cost, with most annual membership fees ranging from $35-$60.
Most clubs welcoming visitors along for a trial. Contact the club to discuss your bushwalking experience and find out about the types of activities on their program.  Many clubs also offer other outdoor activities in addition to bushwalking, such as kayaking and cycling, and other social activities.
Melbourne University and Alumni Bushwalkers Inc
Introduction
The Melbourne University and Alumni Bushwalkers is a small, friendly group of bushwalkers, with a wide range of interests. While the club has its origins in the University of Melbourne and its alumni across many faculties, we welcome new members of all ages who have a love of bushwalking
Details
We walk generally on the third Saturday of each month from February to November. The walks are usually about 10-15 km long, from a starting point within a couple of hours of Melbourne. In addition to this every year we have a number of weekend walks, and one or two ‘weeks of walks’, from shared accommodation. We invite you to explore this site to find out more about us, our activities and how to join the club and/or contact us.
Our walks are not solely exercises in physical fitness. We delight in the beauty and diversity of landscapes in Victoria and interstate. Some members are keen photographers, poets and painters. Conversation along the track is lively and wide-ranging, with members' expertise and interests including ecology, conservation, history, water management, health, art, music and overseas travel.
While most members are in their fifties and sixties, we welcome new members of any age, especially younger walkers. We enjoy the mix of interests and ages that stimulates conversation and adds to the range of perceptions and responses to the bush.
