Fun, Friendship and Fitness in Nature
Joining a bushwalking club is a great way to meet new people, improve your fitness and have fun in the outdoors. There are 60 Bushwalking Victoria Affiliate clubs spread across Victoria and most clubs welcome new members and visitors.
There are clubs of all sizes with many offering walks across Victoria, interstate and even overseas. Most clubs welcome people new to bushwalking and you are certain to find experienced members willing to pass on their knowledge to beginners. Some of our clubs conduct training specifically for people new to bushwalking. Club membership is low cost, with most annual membership fees ranging from $35-$60.
Most clubs welcoming visitors along for a trial. Contact the club to discuss your bushwalking experience and find out about the types of activities on their program.  Many clubs also offer other outdoor activities in addition to bushwalking, such as kayaking and cycling, and other social activities.

Details
From Keilor we are lucky to have easy access to the gorges, mountain ranges and former gold mining areas to Melbourne's north and north-west and many of our walks are in those locations. However, we also incorporate walks further afield so that walks in the Dandenongs, Marysville etc aren't neglected either. Afternoon tea is a ritual we take very seriously and no walk is complete without a visit to a local tearoom or cafe before we head home. Our weekend trips (base camps) have included the Grampians, Wilson's Promontory and Mt Hotham. Walking is the main activity but eating and generally having a good time feature heavily.
