About the Walk

Overview

This walk has coastal views, rocky reefs offshore, sand beach walking, quiet bay views and quiet coastal holiday villages. Best walked at low tide.  Car shuffle required.

The Walk in Detail

Starting at the car park, cross Stoney Creek (1) and walk around the headland.  Continue north along the coast past the Foreshore Caravan Park (2) until you arrive at the Point Leo Surf Beach (3).  Walk around this headland; go past the Marine Rescue Jetty (4) and follow the walking track to East Creek (5).

Continue north along the beach and you will go past some cliff areas, and offshore you will see some rocky outcrops (6).  Further along the beach you will reach Merricks yacht club, continue on until you arrive at Balnarring Beach (7) and Balnarring Yacht Club (8).  Just a short walk on from here you will see a footbridge over Merricks Creek (9).  Cross this bridge inland and follow the foot track to Coolart Homestead (10).

Walk out the entrance road and turn right (south) along Lord Somers Rd. Follow Parklands Avenue (11) until you arrive at the Somers Yacht Club and the end of the walk.

Getting There

This walk starts at the Shoreham Beach car park (Melways 256 F10) and ends at Somer Yacht Club car park (Melways 194 A10).

Drive to Shoreham taking the Frankston-Flinders Road until you reach Beach Road.  Turn into Beach road and follwo road down to car park.

Walk Precautions

Be prepared for a long sandy walk along beach. Watch for golf balls when walking through the golf course and cars when walking on roads
