About the Walk
Overview
A pleasant walk through natural bushland with views over Westernport and Port Phillip Bays, two Quarries, a secluded dam in a hidden valley, vineyards. Some walking beside roads.
The Walk in Detail
Starting at the car park, cross Arthurs Seat Road to Eatons Cutting Road and walk north past Holmes road to the access track (1) into the small park. Walk along the Circuit Track (2) around the hill in the park (you may see some views of Westernport Bay on this track) and return to Eatons Cutting road.
Walk north about 1 km to a track on the left side (3) just past the Tumbywood road reserve. Follow this track west past the first quarry (4) and continue on till you reach the OT Dam wall (5). Continue around the OT Dam along the boardwalk (6).
Turn right (east) on the northern side of the dam on the lower road, following the road to another intersection, go a bit further until the bush opens out and you will see good views(7) of Port Phillip Bay. Return west along the upper road (ignore the north road) and take a small diversion to view the 2nd quarry (8), go back to the road and continue west uphill till you reach Arthurs Seat Road (9).
Turn left (east) and walk along the northern side of Arthurs Seat Road going past a disused motor garage that used to be original OT cordial factory (10) that drew water off the dam below. Continue east along Arthurs Seat Road back to the car park at the school.
Getting There
The walk starts at the car park for the Red Hill Primary School. Drive to Dromana and turn right (south) into McCulloch Street. Continue under the freeway and turn right into Arthurs Seat Road. Follow Arthurs Seat Road to the top of Arthurs Seat and then continue for about 4km to the Mornington-Flinders Road and the the school.Walk Precautions
