Getting There

Take CityLink (will need to pay the tolls) and then the Calder Freeway north towards Kyneton.  Take the Woodend-Wallan/C324 exit.  In 400m turn right into Woodend-Lancefield Rd.  After a further 3.5 km turn left into Coach Rd/C324 and almost immediately right into South Rock Road.  Follow this road for approx 1.5km to Hanging Rock Reserve.

Pets: Dogs on a leash are permitted in picnic areas but are not permitted to ascend the rock due to presence of native animals.

Note that a number of very popular major events are held at the Reserve each year including the New Years Day Picnic Races.  It is advisable to check the visitor information link above for details of such events when planning a visit to the Rock.

Note:  There is a fee to enter the Reserve - either per car or per pedestrian.  In July 2013 the fees were $10 per car and $4 per pedestrian.  There is a ticket machine located just outside the cafe and a valid ticket is required to exit the park.
