Replacement of Toilet Block - Ritchie's Hut
 
Parks Victoria are currently in the process of replacing the existing toilet at Ritchie's hut.

The works are scheduled between February and April 2017.

There may be no toilet available for use between this period as the old toilet will be decommissioned. Please ensure you walk at least 100 metres from the river or any water way, dig a hole and bury your waste and toilet paper very carefully.

This is a circuit walk that explores the central area of the You Yangs Regional Park. The granite peaks of the You Yangs rise dramatically from the surrounding volcanic plains between Melbourne and Geelong and are clearly visible from as far away as the bay side of Melbourne and beyond.

Brimbank Park is located within the Maribyrnong Valley alongside the Maribyrnong River. This area has a rich human history with surveys indicating that Aboriginal occupation extends back as far as 40,000 years and European settlement dates back to the 1830's, soon after Melbourne was founded.

You Yangs Regional Park

This is a circuit walk that explores the slopes of Flinders Peak in You Yangs Regional Park. The undulating track includes some short steep sections as it weaves its way around and between granite boulders.  There are great views out over the volanic plains.

A well-defined, sealed trail along the valley of Kororoit Creek which contains mini-rapids, large waterholes and basalt cliffs.   Spring is the best season for this walk, which goes through many areas replanted by community volunteers and Melbourne Water.  The walk starts and finishes with short bus trips to and from Sunshine Station.

Easy walking along flat, sealed tracks taking in points of interest including an historic manufacturing site, the beauty of the river and surrounding parks.  Some native birds that may be seen include:  Seagulls, Wood and Black Ducks, Small Pied Cormorants, White-faced Herons, Rainbow Lorikeets, Magpies and Mudlarks.

Easy walking along a mix of flat, gravel tracks and uneven dirt tracks. These walks take in views of  Port Phillip Bay, and the city skyline of Melbourne. The walks start at the historic Homestead which is well worth spending time to explore. The Tower, which is a Monument to Migration and Aspirations is well worth the visit.
