Galada Tamboore Park

Galada Tamboore is part of Kulin land for which the Wurundjeri, the traditional owners, are custodians. The name means "Creek Waterhole".  The Merri Creek runs through the middle of the area which has extensive grasslands.  The walks, on sealed and gravel tracks take in views of the Merri Creek, which include basalt cliffs at a bend in the creek, and a variety of  bird life in a bushland setting.

Tarra-Bulga National Park

The Grand Strzelecki covers in excess of 100km of walking and hiking tracks stretching from Morwell National Park to Tarra-Bulga National Park and Balook in a 3 or 4 day hike. Divided into segments, the GST can also be walked in shorter sections, ideal for 1 or 2 day hikes.

Dandenong Ranges National Park

Grants Picnic Ground is located in Sherbrooke Forest in the Dandenong Ranges National Park, 41km east of Melbourne.  There are magnificent Mountain Ash trees, cool moist tree fern gullies, and lots of colourful rosellas, galahs, cockatoos and possibly a lyrebird.

There are four short walks that all start from the Visitor Centre, and are all beautiful.

Grass Tree Walk
Brisbane Ranges National Park

Part of this interesting walk is a section of the 3-day Burchell Trail. Most of the walk is on quiet vehicle tracks through undulating woodland, with an understory of grass trees. Of interest are old slate quarries, good views and a little gorge. There is a short steep descent into the gorge and then a climb out. 100m change of elevation a series of small ascents and descents toward the end of the walk.

This walk samples the varied scenery and mining relics of the upper reaches of the Lerderderg River, including remnants of Crown Dam. A highlight of the walk is the Lower Lerderderg River Heritage Walk.
