About the Walk

Overview

Visit Trentham and take an easy walk along the old railway line towards Lyonville.

The Walk in Detail

After a short walk around the township, visiting the main street, Memorial Clock and Catholic Church, walk to the heritage listed railway station, which is the start of the Domino Rail Trail. Collect a pamphlet on the Domino Trail from the Visitor Information Centre and then follow the well-marked rail trail west south west.

The trail eventually leaves the railway line and does a northerly loop through lowlying swamp, regaining the railway near Doctors Creek, about one hour's walk from the start.  Continue to Blue Creek then onto Domino Creek, the halfway point, where there
is an information board, mainly about the trees.

Turn off the embankment with a quick turn left to follow markers until Domino Creek is crossed on a wooden bridge. Continue along an old logging track through open forest back to the rail trail and retrace your steps to Trentham.

Getting There

Drive to Trentham via Calder Highway, Gisborne and Woodend.  At Woodend take the Trentham Rd and in Trentham turn right at High Street, then right at Quarry Street, park at Trentham Lions Park (toilets and shelter are available).
