About the Walk

Overview

You will see an interesting country train station, tug boats, mangroves, a disused Oil Refinery, a tidal mangrove boardwalk and a large boat marina. You will see also excellent coastal scenery and the One Steel (BHP) Strip Mill across the bay.  Car shuffle required.

The Walk in Detail

Starting at the Stony Point Station walk out on the Ferry Jetty. This has ferries to French and Phillip islands and houses the Westernport Tugboat Service (1).  Walk along Stoney Point road to Crib Point Station then walk north along Point Road (2).  Continue along the Esplanade till you reach the first car park at Wooleys Beach (3).  Walk along that track to the Terminal Jetty (4).

Follow another track just past the jetty along the coast back to Wooleys Road (5).  Walk along Wooleys Rd to Jacks Beach Reserve car park (6).  Walk along the track which becomes a boardwalk over tidal mangrove land (7).  Continue on crossing the bridge at Warrangine Creek (8) then along the road past a caravan park (9).  Follow the track through open parkland to the Westernport Marina (10) and finally to the car park at the end of the walk.

Getting There

This walk starts at the Stoney Point car park (Melways 195 F5) and ends at the skate ramp car park in Hastings (Melways 154 K11) Drive East along Point Nepean Road through Dromana and continue to follow Point Nepean Rd under the freeway until the Dunns Creek Road turn off on the right.  Follow Dunns Creek Rd to Red Hill Rd then continue as Bittern-Dromana Rd to Flinders-Frankston Rd. Turn left for 50 metres then right into Disney street and drive to Stony Point Rd. Turn right and drive to the end at Stoney Point Station car park.
